Frequently Asked Questions:
Q:
Is it true that you used to work for a wedding studio?A:
Yes, it's true. But after two years I have decided to try something new, on my own.
Q:
What kind of retouching do you do?A:
I primarily specialize in fashion, beauty and editorial.
Q:
Are you available to work outside Croatia?A:
Yes, thanks to the power of the Internet.
Q:
What is “high-end retouching”?A:
High-end retouching is closely tied to high end fashion.
Q:
So what is is high end fashion, than?A:
In my opinion, high end (or high-end) fashion are clothing and fashion accessories which are, simply put, "expensive". In other words, “high end” commodities are products, services, or real estate targeted at the high-income consumers.
Q:
Does that mean you are not available for other kinds of retouching?A:
No, not at all, but I prefer high end stuff. It's quality over quantity, and that’s what it’s all about.Q:
Calling yourself high end anything sounds like flaunting.A:
It may appear that way, but in today’s competitive market one needs to specialize. Otherwise, you’re just like everyone else.
A good example would be a wedding photographer. It's important for him to have a title in his job description, so people would know he specializes in wedding photography. It’s very likely he shoots all sorts of subjects, even a bit of fashion photography. But weddings are his primary source of income, in witch he has already established himself as a go-to-guy for weddings. Advertising yourself as Jack of all trades can have much less impact in photography/retouching business.
And, since retouching is so closely intertwined with photography, I need descriptive job title as well.
Q:
What kind of equipment do you use?A:
On the hardware side of things, I use a PC + Wacom Intuos4 medium graphic tablet. As for software, for my daily activities, I use Adobe Photoshop CS4 & Adobe Lightroom 2.
Q:
Do you do TFP (Trade For Portfolio)?A:
I’m currently updating portfolio! So I’m looking to work with strong beauty and fashion photographers or young talents on the rise. This means that I will work for free in exchange for the possibility of displaying it in my portfolio. I only accept photographs that will benefit my portfolio, and these have to fall in category of either beauty or fashion.
